உடம்பை

உடம்பொடுபுணர்த்தல் uṭampoṭu-pu-ṇarttal, n. உடம்பு +. (Gram.) A device inliterary art in which an author seeks skillfullyto suggest by implication certain ideas which,being quite germane to the subject he isdealing with, would, in his opinion, help tomake his presentation quite clear to the reader,but which he (the author) could not, except asa digression, proceed to elaborate in the regularcourse in his work; கூறும் இலக்கியத்திலேயேசொல்லவேண்டிய தொன்றை உய்த்துணரவைக்கை.(குறள், 27, உரை )
