கதி

s. Progression, locomotion, tendency, நடை. 2. A way, path, வழி. 3. Gait, pace, போக்கு. 4. Swiftness, rapid ness, fleetness, விரைவு. 5. The five paces of a horse, குதிரைநடை. (See துரகம்.) 6. Stage or degree, நிலை. 7. Condition, state or mode of existence, embracing the four di visoins of living beings or stages through which the soul may pass, நால்வகைப்பிறப்பு, viz.: 1. Celestials, தேவகதி. 2. Human, மக் கட்கதி. 3. Infrahuman; i. e. inferior ani mals, விலங்கின்கதி, and 4. Infernals, நரககதி. 8. The procession of the planets in their orbits, கிரகநடை. 9. Pecuniary ability, wealth, ஐசுவரியம். 1. Luck, fortune, un controllable events, fate, அதிட்டம். 11. Ex emption from future births, final beati tude, absorption of the soul in the deity, பரமகதி. 12. Refuge, asylum, அடைக்கலம். 13. Section, chapter, படலம். 14. Strength, ability, திராணி. Wils. p. 279. GATI. (p.) கொடுக்கக்கதியில்லை. There exist no means of payment.

கதிமாற, inf. To pass from one mode of existence into another, பிறவிமாற.

கதியற்றவன்--கதிகெட்டவன், s. An impoverished man, or disabled per son.

கதியுள்ளவன், s. An able, powerful, rich man.

கதிவிட, inf. To ride a horse swift ly in any of the five paces.

ஐங்கதி, s. The five paces which horses are taught. See துரககதி.

அவரோகணகதி, s. Descent, down ward tendency--opp. to ஆரோகணகதி.

சுபாவகதி, s. Natural strength, or faculty.

க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To go, move, proceed, நடக்க. 2. To rise, be high, grow high, எழ. 3. To be excessive, மிக. 4. To sound, ஒலிக்க. 5. To exceed in quality, weight, &c., to out-weigh, pre ponderate, surpass, predominate, augment in degree, quantity, price, &c.; to increase in learning, &c.; to be superior, be better, &c.; to outdo, outstrip, outmatch, கடக்க. இதுகதிக்கிறது. This is more, greater, heavi er, &c., than that. அவர்கதித்துப்பேசுகிறார். He talks too much, above his rank, too assumingly.

கதித்தபங்கு, s. A larger share.

கதித்தபுகழ், s. High swelling praise.

கதித்தவிலை, s. A high price. 2. A higher price. 3. An exorbitant price.

கதித்தல், v. noun. An increase. 2. (p.) The act of sounding. (சது.)

கதிப்பு, v. noun. Excess, increase, thickness, eminence, &c., augmentation, preponderance.

கதிமை, v. noun. Largeness, great ness, ability, பருமை.
