கௌளி

nalla-kauḷi   n. id. +.Lizard predicting good, dist. fr. naccu-k-kauḷi; நன்னிமித்தமாக வொலிக்கும் கௌளி Nāñ.  

kauḷi   s. a small kind of lizard, கெவுளி, கவளி; 2. a bundle of 1 betel-leaves, கவளி; 3. a specific melody type, ஓர் இராகம்.

கௌளி எழும்புகிறது, --சொல்லுகிறது, --அடிக்கிறது, the lizard chirps (regarded as an omen.)

கௌளிகாதல், the chirp of the lizard and its presage.

கௌளிக்கட்டாய்ச் சொல்ல, to mislead, to deceive a person by professing to foretell.

கௌளி சாஸ்திரம், the art of divining by the chirp of a lizard.
