சொக்கு

s. Stupor, torpor, torpitude, dullness--as produced by enchantments, &c., சோர்வு. (Telugu usage.) 2. Fascina tion, captivation, holding one in magical subjection, மயக்கம். 3. Beauty, அழகு. 4. Gold, பொன். 5. A name of Siva--as சொக்கன். 6. [prov.] Cheek, கன்னம்.

சொக்கிடுவித்தை--சொக்குவித்தை, s. The art of causing stupor, sleep, &c, by casting magical powders.

சொக்குப்பிடுங்க--சொக்குக்கிள்ள, inf. [prov.] To pinch, draw out or twist the cheeks, either in play or in anger.

சொக்குப்பொடி, s. Powders cast on a person to induce sleep, stupor, obse quiousness, &c., மயக்கப்பொடி. Sometimes சுக்குப்பொடி.

கிறேன், சொக்கினேன், வேன், சொக்க, v. n. To become stupid, heavy, dull, languid, sleepy, சோர. 2. To be en chanted, fascinated, captivated, subjected to the will of another, மயங்க. (c.) 3. [prov.] To be pressed in, bent in &c., as the sur face of a wall, the edge of a mat, a basket, &c, பள்ளம்விழ. Compare சொக்கரை. ஆள்சொக்கிவிட்டான். He is in a sound sleep. He is captivated. சோளப்பயிரைமேய்ந்துஎருதுசொக்கிக்கொண்டிறந்த து. The ox eating of the green corn was stupified and died.

சொக்குவிக்க, inf. To fascinate, en chant, captivate, மயக்குவிக்க.
