நாணு

கிறேன், நாணினேன், வேன், நாண, v. n. To feel bashful, to be modest, or coy, as a woman, கூச. 2. to be shy, to shrink back, as from a forbidding sight; to feel repugnance or dislike, பின்னிட. 3. To acquiesce or yield through regard, அட ங்க. 4. To shrink from the touch, as some vegetables; to yield, as disease to medi cine, வாட. 5. To be shy, and run away, as snakes, &c., are said to do when cer tain herbs or roots are shewn, அஞ்ச. 6. [prov.] To be influenced unfavorably as some trees or plants by nearness to the cocoa; to be uncongenial, to each other, as the red and white lotus, பிணங்க. (c.) மாமியாரைக்கண்டுமருமகள்நாணுகிறதுபோலே..... As the doughter-in-law is embarrassed in presence of her mother-in-law.

நாணி, s. A modest person, நாணமுடை யாள்.
