நெளி

s. [loc. முடக்கு.] A finger-ring with a curve, worn by women, ஓர்மோதிரம்; [ex நெளி, v.] (சது.)

நெளிமோதிரம், s. A kind of finger ring.

கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், நெளிய, v. n. To crawl with an undulating mo tion--as snakes, worms, maggots, &c., ஊர. 2. To writhe as the body through pain, to distort the limbs, &c., as a child, show ing airs, கெந்த. 3. To hitch, move or shift from its place as an infant, நகர. 4. To be distorted by carrying a load; to be bent on one side, as a lame person, &c., கூன. 5. To be bent, inclined, warped--as timber, articles of furniture, &c., also to be crooked, as a road, channel, &c., வளைய. (c.) அதுநெளிந்துபோயிற்று. It is bent, applied to a tool, &c. பாதைநெளிந்துகொண்டுபோகிறது. The way is crooked.

நெளிந்தஎழுத்து, s. Crooked, strag gling letters in writing.

நெளிந்துகொடுக்க, inf. [vul.] To in cline or bend, as a tall palankeen bearer to be level with a shorter, to shrink from blows, &c.

நெளிந்துகொண்டுநிற்க, inf. To stand in a lounging or affected posture.

நெளிவு, v. noun. Crawling, writhing, flexture, &c., as the verb.

நெளிவெடுக்க, inf. To mend any thing bent or warped, to correct an ir regularity. 2. To make a flexure, commonly to a ring, நெளி.

க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. and v. a. To cause to bend, incline, twist, வளைக்க. 2. To bend, wriggle or distort the body in walking, commonly in affectation, அசைக்க. 3. To make proud, disdainful, affected gestures, in contempt of one; to mimic, நிமிர்ந்துநடக்க. 4. To be insolent, கர்வங்காட்ட. (c.) எழுத்தைநெளித்தெழுதுகிறான். He makes crook ed letters in writing. இடுப்பைநெளித்துநடக்கிறான். She walks with a wriggling motion of the hips.

நெளித்துநடக்க--நெளித்துக்கொண்டுந டக்க, inf. To walk struttingly, or with affected motions. 2. To walk with a distorted gait.

நெளிப்பு, v. noun. Distorted or af fected motions of the body, flirting or tossing the head, or making other ges tures in disdain.

நெளிப்புக்காட்டல், v. noun. Making affected gestures, as நெளி, 3.

நெளிப்புக்காரன், s. A strutter, a fop.

நெளிப்புப்பேசுதல், v. noun Speaking comtemptuously or slightingly of one, or of his performances.
