பாதாளம்

pātāḷam   n. pātāla. 1. Thelowest subterranean region, one of kīḻ-ēḻ-ulakam, q.v.; கீழுலகம் ஏழனுள் அடியில் உள்ளது.2. Any of the nether worlds; கீழுலகம். பாதாளமேழினுங் கீழ் சொற்கழிவு பாதமலர் (திருவாச. 7, 10).3. Deep cavern, pit, chasm, gulf, abyss, cleft;பிலம். (W.) 4. Hell; நரகம். (சூடா.) 5. (Astrol.)The fourth house from that of the sun; சூரியனுக்கு நான்காமிடம். (W.) 6. Secret place; மறைவிடம். (W.)

pātāḷam  

s. The infernal regions under the earth, the supposed abode of Nagas, கீழுலகம். 2. A deep hole, pit, chasm, gulf, an abyss, பிலம். 3. Any of the nether worlds, especially, the lowest, கீழேழுலகத் தொன்று. 4. Hell, நரகம். 5. [in astron.] The fourth sign from that in which the sun is present. W. p. 524. PATALA. பாதாளத்திற்கொண்டுபோய்ப்பதுக்கிவிட்டான். . . He has hid it in a very secret place.

பாதாளகங்கை, s. As பாதாளவாகினி.

பாதாளகிரகணம், s. An eclipse partly visible and partly invisible. 2. As காணாக் கிரகணம். See under கிரகணம்.

பாதாளநிலயம்--பாதாளபூமி, s. The lower regions, the abyss, கீழுலகம்.

பாதாளப்பணிக்கன், s. A deep, pro found person. See பணிக்கன்.

பாதாளமூலம்--பாதாளமூலி, s. A variety of the cyperus grass; (lit.) whose root descends to the abyss, ஓர்புல்; the சீந்தில் creeper. 2. A kind of white ant, ஓர்கறையான்.

பாதாளலோகம், s. Any of the nether worlds. See உலகம். 2. The lowest of the nether worlds.

பாதாளவஞ்சனம், s. A kind of magic. by which things deep in the earth, are discovered; [ex அஞ்சனம்.]

பாதாளவயிரவன், s. Bhairava of the abyss, in reference to whom rice is boiled and sacrifice offered, in digging wells, and discovering hidden treasure, under ground.

பாதாளவழி, s. Subteraneous pas sage to the abyss.

பாதாளவாகினி, s. The ganges of the abyss.

பாதாளவாசிகள், s. [pl.] Inhabitants of the nether-worlds.

பாதாளவினையன், s. [alsoவினையளந்த பாதாளம்.] A deep scheming crafty man, மிகுசூதன்.

கிடுகிடுபாதாளம், s. Very deep, மிகு ஆழம்.
