புரி

s. Cord, string, twine, rope, கயிறு. 2. Strand-especially a twisted strand of straw, வைக்கோற்புரி. [vul. பிரி.] 3. Curl, ringlet, twist, சுருள். 4. Spiralness, சுரி. 5. A chank, சங்கு. 6. Desire, ஆசை. 7. A tie, கட்டு. (சது.) 8. A three-fold cord, முப்புரிக்கயிறு, as முப்புரிநூலோர், Brahmans, as wearing the three corded string.

புரிகுழல், s. Curled hair.

புரிசடை, s. Curled entangled locks.

புரிதிரித்தல்--புரிமுறுக்குதல், v. noun. Twisting strands, for rope making. 2. (fig.) Plotting one's ruin.

புரிதெறித்தல், [prov.] Parting as a rope. 2. Failing, as one's stratagems.

புரிமணை, s. [vul. பிரிமணை.] A twist ed rope of straw upon which earthen vessels are placed.

புரிமுறுக்கு, v. noun. An unblown lo tus. (p.)

புரி, 7. or சத்தபுரி. The seven sacred cities are; 1. அயோத்தி, Oude; 2. மதுரை, Madura; 3. மாயை, Myaveram; 4. காசி, Casi or Benares; 5. காஞ்சி, Canjive ram; 6. அவந்திகை; Avanti, or Oujen; 7. துவாரகை, a western town, said to be submerged in the sea.

புரிமுகம், s. A tower at the front of a town, கோபுரம். (p.)

கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To do, to make; to exercise, as grace or mercy, செய்ய. 2. To desire, விரும்ப--Note. It is also joined with nouns to form com pound words, as அருள்புரிதல், exercising grace; சினம்புரிதல், being angry. (p.)

புரிந்தோர், appel. n. [pl.] Friends, adherents, சிநேகிதர்.

புரிவு, v. noun. [also பரிவு.] Love, attachment, அன்பு. 2. Desire, ஆசை.
