முடி

s. A crown, கிரீடம். 2. A tuft of hair left upon the crown of the head, as குடுமி. 3. A roll of hair on the head, as மயிர்முடி. 4. The head, தலை. 5. A bundle of rice plants, &c., for transplanting, as நாற்றுமுடி. 6. A plant, Holy basil, Ocimum, துளசி. (சது.) 7. A knot of a string, or in a tree, as முடிச்சு. (c.) 8. [com. மூடி.] The half of a cocoanut-kernel, தேங்காயிற்பாதி. (R.) 9. [prov.] As தேங்காய்க்குடுமி. 1. [in poet.] End, as முடிவு.-For some of the compounds refer to கிரீடம், மகுடம். புலையனுக்குமுடிபொறுக்காது. A crown will not rest on the head of a Pulaya.

அடிமுடி, s. Head and foot. See அடி.

முடிகத்தரிக்கிறவன், appel. n. [com. முடிச்சுகத்தரிக்கிறவன்.] A cutpurse. (R.)

முடிக்காணிக்கை, s. [com. முடிகாணிக் கை.] An offering of the hair of the head. See காணிக்கை.

முடிக்கீரை, s. Young greens. See கீரை.

முடிக்கோரை, s. A kind of grass, ஓர் புல்.

முடிசாய்தல், v. noun. Dying of a king or patron. (lit.) declining of a crown.

முடிசூட, inf. To wear a crown.

முடிசூட்ட, inf. To crown another.

முடிதரிக்க, inf. To be crowned. 2. As முடிசூட, and முடிசூட்ட.

முடிதும்பை, s. A fragrant kind of plant.

முடித்தேங்காய், s. A cocoa-nut with a fibrous knot on the upper part.

முடிபொறுத்தவன், appel. n. [com. முடி பொறுத்தராசா.] A king, as wearing a crown.

முடிபோட, inf. To tie into a knot.

முடிமயிர், s. A lock of hair. 2. A bunch of hair for enlarging women's locks, as பொய்மயிர்.

முடிமாலை, s. A garland for the head, a chaplet.

முடியிறக்குதல்--முடியெடுக்குதல்- முடிவாங்குதல், v. noun. Cutting or shav ing off the hair of the head in fulfil ment of a vow.

முடியுண்ண, inf. To be knitted into knots, முடிபட.

முடியுறுப்பு, s. Any ornamental part of a crown.

கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To tie, or make a knot, முடிச்சுமுடிய. 2. v. n. To end, terminate, be finished, or com pleted, முற்ற. 3. To die, சாக. 4. To be pos sible, capable, கூட. நான்சாப்பிட்டுமுடிந்தது. I have done eating. ஆராதனைமுடிந்தது. The service was over. (Chris. usage.) அதுஉன்னாலேமுடியுமா. Can it be accom plished by you? நான்வரமுடியாது. I cannot come. வேலைஎப்போதுமுடியும். When will the work be finished? அவன்காரியமுடிந்தது. His case is settled, [fig.] he is dead. அதுமுடியாது. It won't do. 2. It is im possible. அதைமுடியப்பார். See how it ends. ஆராய்ந்துமுடியாதகாரியம். It is an unfa thomable mystery. அதைமுடிந்துவை. Tie it up in a cloth. நீர்காலால்முடிந்ததை நான்கையாலுமவிழ்க்கமாட்டே ன். முடிந்ததுமுடித்தல், v. noun. The re capitulation of an author, briefly re-stat ing the points discussed. See உத்தி.

முடிந்ததுமுற்றும். Finis, end. (in books.)

முடிந்துபோக, inf. To end, to be com pleted.

முடிந்துபோட, inf. To tie up [money &c.] in a cloth.

முடிய, inf. [as adv.] Unto the end, finally. See முற்றமுடிய.

முடியல், s. All, the whole, எல்லாம். (சது.)

முடியாமை, neg. v. noun. Endlessness, முற்றாமை. 2. Impossibility, incapability, கூடாமை.

முடிச்சு, v. noun. A knot, a tie; some thing tied in a bundle.

கொடுமுடிச்சு--படுமுடிச்சு, s. A hard intricate knot. See கொடுமை. முடிச்சுமுடிச்சாயிருக்கிறது. It is full of knots. முடிச்சுப்போனது மல்லாமல் இளிச்சவாய்ப்பட்ட முங்கூடக்கிடைத்தது. He has lost his money, and is left to grin.

முடிச்சவிழ--முடிச்சுக்குலைய, inf. To become loose, or untied, as a knot, or as hair hanging behind and knotted.

முடிச்சவிழ்க்க, inf. To untie a knot.

முடிச்சவிழ்க்கி--முடிச்சுமாறி, appel. n. A pick-pocket. திருட்டுப்பையன்கலியாணத்தில்முடிச்சவிழ்க்கிபெ ரியதனம்பண்ணல். In the marriage of a thief, the pick-pocket is the conductor.

முடிப்பு, v. noun. A tie, as முடிச்சு. 2. Money wrapt up in a cloth. See கிழி. 3. (p.) End, conclusion, result, com pletion, &c., as முடிவு.

முடிப்புச்செலுத்த, inf. To pay money on a debt, பணங்கட்ட.

முடிப்புச்சொல்ல, inf. To conclude a discourse. 2. As முடிவுசொல்ல.

முடிப்புரி, s. [improp. முடிப்பிரி.] A receiver of rents, taxes, &c., a shroff, ச ராப்புக்காரன்.

முடிவு, v. noun. [in gram. முடிபு.] End, termination, close, completion, issue, re sult, expiration, conclusion, கடை. (சது.) 2. Death, destruction, மரணம். முடிவென்னசொல்லுகிறீர். What do you say of the result?

முடிவறிய, inf. To know the result, or end, of a matter, as துறைபோக.

முடிவிடம், s. The end, or termination, of a subject or sentence.

முடிவிடங்கூறல், v. noun. Giving notice where a point in a discussion termi nates. See உத்தி.

முடிவிலேபார்க்க, inf. To view abstract ly, to consider generically; not to take into consideration individual or parti cular instances, or determine from im mediate causes, but to look to the prime cause, முடிவாய்யோசிக்க. பாரதிதனிலுள்ள செயலெலாமுடிவிலே பார்க்கினி ன்செயலல்லவோ. Are not thine acts in this world, from an abstract, and gene ralized view of things? (தாயுமான.)

முடிவில்லாமை, neg. v. noun. Eternity, that which hath no end.

முடிவுசொல்ல, inf. To decide, or pass sentence.

முடிவுரை, s. The conclusion of a work, or discourse; the peroration, as distin guished from முகவுரை, the introduction.

க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To put on the head, a chaplet, a crown, &c., to invest, சூட்ட. 2. To finish, bring to an end, complete, effect, accomplish, முற் றுவிக்க. (c.) 3. To destroy, அழிக்க. கொண்டையிலேபூமுடித்துக்கொண்டாள். She has decked her tuft of hair with flowers. அவன்ஒன்றையும்முடிக்கமாட்டான். He won't effect any thing. பிரசங்கத்தைமுடித்தார். He concluded the lecture. எப்போகலியாணமுடிக்கப்போகிறாய். When are you going to marry? முடித்துப்போட்டாயா. Have you finished it? எனமுடிக்க. It must be done so. (p.)

முடித்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To finish a work, for one. 2. See கொடு, v. எத்தனைநாளைக்குள்முடித்துக்கொடுப்பாய்..... In how many days will you finish [my] work?
