மூ

mū   A syllabic letter formed of ம் and ஊ.

mū   adj. Antique, old. 2. Three, third, as மு.

மூதாதை, s. A grand-father, பாட்டன்.

மூதாய், s. Grand-mother, பாட்டி.

மூதேவி, s. The goddess of ill luck, misery, or deformity,--the elder sister of Lukshmi. 2. A deformed person. மூர்க்கன்முகத்தில்மூதேவிகுடியிருப்பாள். The மூதேவி will dwell on the face of a pas sionate fellow.

மூவணை, s. Three yoke of oxen; [ex அணை.] (c.)

மூவரசர், s. The three famous kings, See அரசன்.

மூவர், s. Three persons. 2. the Triad. அவர்கள்மூவரும். All three of them.

மூவழி, s. [in gram.] Three places, as முதல், இடை, கடை.

மூவறிவுயிர், s. Creatures of three senses. (p.)

முன்னிலைப்பன்மைவினைமுற்று, s. Finite verbs of the second person plural.

முன்னிலைப்பாடு, v. noun. Bail, security, pledge, சாமீன்.

முன்னிலையசைச்சொல், s. An expletive used with the second person singular, as சென்மியா, where மியா is an expletive.

முன்னிளவல், s. An elder brother who is still young, தமையன். 2. The brother next to the oldest; [ex இளவல்.] (p.)

முன்னிற்க, inf. To stand before, pro tect, பாதுகாக்க; [ex நிற்க.] அஞ்சாமல்வாஎல்லாவற்றிற்கும்நானேமுன்னிற்பே ன். Fear nothing, but come, I will pro tect you. நான்உனக்குமுன்னின்றுபேசமாட்டேன்......I won't speak in your defence.

முன்னிற்கிறவன், appel. n. A bail. 2. One who speaks or acts for another. 3. A protector.

முன்னீடு, s. A jewel for the ear of a woman. 2. A responsible person.

முன்னும்பின்னும். Before and behind. முன்னும்பின்னும்பார்த்துச்செய். Do it with due deliberation.

மூவாட்டை, s. Three years. 2. adj. Of three years; [ex ஆட்டை.]

மூவிராசாக்கள்திருநாள், s. [R. C. usage.] A festival in honor of the three wise men from the East, who came to wor ship Jesus at Bethlehem.

மூவினம், s. The three-fold class of consonants. See இனம். 2. The three chief kinds of gregarious cattle--cows, buffaloes, and sheep or goats.

முன்னோர், s. A king's ministers, மந்திரி கள். 2. Prodecessors, ancestors, பெரியோர்.

முன்னொற்றி, s. A first mortgage; [ex ஒற்றி.]

முன்னோடி, appel. n. The leading demon among the devils, supposed to traverse streets in time of pestilence, முன்னோடும் பேய். 2. A silver-stick-bearer going before a palanquin.

முன்னோன், s. God, who is before all, கடவுள். 2. Ganesa, விநாயகன். (சது.) 3. An elder brother, தமையன்.

க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், மூக்க, v. n. To become old, to be older than others, to be senior, முதுமையுற. (c.) 2. To end, முடிய. மூத்தபிள்ளை. The first-born. மூத்தமகன். The first-born son. மூத்தமருமகன். A son-in-law married to the eldest daughter.

மூத்ததிருப்பதிகம், s. A small poem by புனிதவதி, a poetess.

மூத்தது, appel. n. That which is older than the other. மூத்ததுமோழைஇளையதுகாளை. The oldest is without horns, the youngest is a bull. [prov.]

மூத்தவன், [fem. மூத்தவள்.] One who is older than others; a superior.

மூத்தார், s. [hon.] The husband's elder brother, புருஷன்தமையன்.

மூத்தாள், s. Elder sister, அக்காள். 2. The elder sister of Lukshmi, as மூதேவி. 3. An old woman, கிழவி. 4. A mistress, as தலைவி.

மூத்தோர், appel. n. [pl.] Old men, elders; honorable and eminent persons. மூத்தோர்சொல்வார்த்தையமிர்தம். The advice given by seniors is nectar. (Avv.)

மூத்தோன், An elderly man, from 48 to 64. See பருவம். 2. An elder brother, அண்ணன். 3. The elder son of Siva, விநா யகன். 4. A senior.

மூப்பு, v. noun. Seniority, முதுமை. 2. Superiority, pre-eminence, தலைமை. எல்லாம்அவன்மூப்பிலேவிட்டிருக்கிறது......All things are left to his management. அவன்எனக்குமூப்பாயிருக்கிறான். He is older than I am. 2. He is my head.

மூப்பர், s. [pl.] Elders in age, or dignity. 2. [Chris. usage.] Deacons, commonly சபைமூப்பர்.

மூப்பன், s. A head man of the low castes. 2. An elder, a president, தலைவன்.

மூப்பானசுவாமி, s. A principal officer in the Travancore country. (Beschi.)

மூப்பி, s. [pl. மூப்பிகள், மூப்பிமார்.] A mistress; a woman of distinction.

மூப்புமுகனை, s. [prov.] The influence of seniority, priority, superintendence.

மூவாமுதல், s. An epithet of the Deity, as never growing old, and never ceasing to be, கடவுள். (p.)
