சொத்தை

s. That which is worm-eaten, decayed, injured by insects, புழு வண்டுமுத லியனஅரித்தது. 2. Defect in fruits, பழத்திற்சொ த்தை. 3. (fig.) Being ruined in circum stances, character, &c., சீர்கெடுதல். சொத்தைகளா, s. A thorn shrub, Flacourtia sepiaria, L. See களா.

சொத்தைப்பல், s. A carious tooth.

சொத்தைப்பாக்கு, s. A worm-eaten betel-nut.

சொத்தையாராய, inf. To examine food, cloth, &c., to remove foreign substances.

சொத்தையிற்போட, inf. [prov.] To give one a slap on the cheek.

சொத்தையுடல், s. [loc.] A scabby state of body. காரியஞ்சொத்தையாய்ப்போயிற்று, The ex pectation has been disappointed.
