பிதிர்

பிதிராசாரம், s. Proper observance of the ceremonial and other rules of one's ancestors.

பிதிரார்ச்சனை--பிதிரார்ச்சிதம், s. Patri mony.

பிதிருலகம், s. The world of the manes, situated in the mid-heaven, or in the region of the moon, தென்புலம்.

பிதிரெக்கியம்--பிதிர்மேதம்--பிதிர்யா கம், s. Sacrifices offered to the manes, by pouring out water mixed with sesamum seed, சிரார்த்தம்.

பிதிர்கருமம்--பிதிர்காரியம்--பிதிர்கிரி யை, s. Duties, as oblations to the manes, obsequies.

பிதிர்காதகம், s. Parricide or murder of a father, பிதாவைக்கொல்லுகை.

பிதிர்காலம், s. Time most acceptable to the manes, for presenting oblations for their benefit, being from the eigh teenth to the twenty-fourth Indian hour of the day, சிரார்த்தகாலம்.

பிதர்சனம், s. Ancestors by the father's side, தந்தைவழி.

பிதிர்சிரார்த்தம்--பிதிர்திதி, s. Annual sacrifices to the manes of a deceased father.

பிதிர்தருப்பணம், s. Pouring water, with sacrificial grass, to the manes, நிர்க் கடன்முடிக்கை.

பிதிர்தானம், s. Offering to the manes, on an appropriate day.

பிதிர்தீர்த்தம், s. A river in Northern India sacred to the manes,ஓர்நதி.

பிதிர்தேவர், s. [sing. பிதிர்தேவதை.] Three deified Beings, residing in the world of Yama; they receive the souls of the departed and are honored by certain rites, தென்புலத்தார்.

பிதிர்தேவதைகள்--பிதிர்தேவர்கள், s. [pl.] As பிதிர்தேவர்.

பிதிர்த்துரோகம், s. Patricide; heinous sin against father, mother or other pro genitor, as neglect to perform obsequies.

பிதிர்நாள்--பிதிர்தினம், s. Day of the new-moon sacred to obsequies for the manes, அமாவாசை. 2. The anniversary of one's death by lunar reckoning. 3. The tenth lunar asterism, as the day when the daities of the manes were born, மகம். (சது.)

பிதிர்பதம், s. The world of departed spirits supposed to be in the south, தெ ன்புலம்; [ex பதம், place.]

பிதிர்பதி, s. Yama, god of death, இயமன். (சது.) 2. As பிதிர்பதம்.

பிதிர்பாந்தவன், s. A relative in the paternal line, பிதாவழிச்சுற்றத்தான்.

பிதிர்பிண்டம், s. Rice offered to the manes, as பிண்டம்.

பிதிர்பூசை, s. Offerings and ceremonies for one's ancestors.

பிதிர்வழி, s. Genealogy of ancestors, chiefly paternal.

பிதிர்வனம், s. Burning place of the dead, மயானம். (சது.)

பிதிர்வாக்கியம்--பிதிர்வசனம், s. The words of a deceased father which should be strictly observed, தந்தைசொல்.

பிதிர்விரதம், s. Fasting on the days sacred to the manes.

கிறது, ந்தது, பிதிரும், பிதிர, v. n. To separate into small particles, to fall to powder, as உதிர. சீலைபிதிர்ந்துபோயிற்று. The cloth is torn to rags.

பிதிர்வு, v. noun. Becoming scattered; spreading, as spots, உதிர்கை.
