புடை

s. Side, adjacent spot, பக்கம். 2. Place, room, location, site, இடம். Com pare புடம். 3. A snake or rat's hole, பாம்புமுதலியவற்றின்வளை, (Tel. usage.) 4. Pro tuberance in a fruit, the side of a well, கிணற்றினுடையபுடைப்பு. 5. A sign of the seventh or local ablative case, ஏழனுருபு.

அடுப்புப்புடை, s. A fire place. (R.)

புடைகொள்ளல், v. noun. Swelling or dilating, புடைத்தல். 2. Forming as a pro tuberance near a sore.

புடைக்கருத்து, s. A similar or colla teral idea, proximate or correlative meaning, இனம்பற்றியகருத்து.

புடைசூழ்தல், v. noun. Surrounding, accompanying, or attending a great person, &c., sometimes புடைவருதல்.

புடைநூல், s. A work written in sup port of another, as சார்புநூல்.

புடைபெயர்ச்சி--புடைபெயர்தல், v. noun. Deviation from a line or path, வழிவிலகுகை. 2. Change of state, whether by improvement or deterioration, நிலைமா றுகை. 3. [n gram.] Action or attribute of the noun as expressed by the verb, கருத்தாவின்தொழில். 4. Development of an abstract idea or quality in the form of a verb, வினைப்பகுதிபுடைபெயர்வு.

புடைபெயர்ச்சித்தொழிற்பெயர், s. One of the two classes of verbal nouns, that which has terminations annexed to the root, as செய், செய்கை. See தொழிற்பெயர்.

புடைபெயர்ச்சிவினை, s. Verbs in con jugation, as நடந்தான், வந்தான்--oppos. to தனிவினை.

புடைவிழுதல், v. noun. Occuring as a lateral cavity in a well, or protuberance in a fruit.

க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To sift, to separate dust, or large from small particles, in a fan, முறத்தாற்புடைக்க. 2. To beat or strike; to beat a drum, அடிக்க. (c.) 3. To cuff, to strike one's self, or another, on the head with the fist or knuckles, குட்ட. 4. To pierce, or punch, குத்த. 5. To flap or clap with the wings, பறவைசிறகடிக்க. 6. (R.) To move, அசைக்க. 7. v. n. (c.) To swell, to dilate, to rise, to puff up--as from a stroke or blow, வீங்க. 8. To grow large, as the breasts, or a local swelling in the sides of an animal after eating, பருக்க. 9. To come to light, to be exposed, divulged, talked of, வெளிப்பட.

புடைப்பு, v. noun. A swelling, protu berance; becoming known; striking, sifting, &c., as the verb.
