புத்திரன்

s. A son, மகன்; [ex Sa. புத், a hell for the childless et திரா, to preserve.] --Note. A son, by performing funeral rites, is supposed to benefit his deceased father. W. p. 541. PUTRA.

புத்திரகாமியம், s. Anxiety to obtain children, புத்திரஆசை.

புத்திரகாமேஷ்டி--புத்திரயாகம், s. A sacrifice offered to obtain children.

புத்திரசந்தானம், s. Offspring. 2. Poste rity, lineal descendants regarded as a blessing.

புத்திரசம்பத்து--புத்திரபாக்கியம், s. Offspring as an acquisition.

புத்திரசுவிகாரம்--புத்திரசுவீகாரம், s Adoption of a child. See சுவிகாரம்.

புத்திரசோகம், s. [com. புத்திரசோபம்.] Great sorrow for the death, or calamity of a son.

புத்திரதாராதிகள், s. Wife, children, &c., as தாராபுத்திராதிகள்.

புத்திரதானம், s. Procreation of children, புத்திரரைப்பிறப்பிக்கை. 2. Gift of children, மகக்கொடை.

புத்திரத்தானம்--புத்திரஸ்தானம், s. [in astrol.] The fifth from the rising sign at birth. See தானம்.

புத்திரபௌத்திரர், s. Sons and grand sons; male descendants.

புத்திரபௌத்திரபரம்பரை--புத்திரபௌ த்திரபாரம்பரியம், s. Continued succession of புத்திரர்பௌத்திரர்.

புத்திரலாபம், s. Boon of a child.

புத்திரவதி, s. A woman blessed with children.

புத்திராதிகள்,s. Children, &c., as புத்தி ரதாராதிகள்.

புத்திரார்த்தம். For the purpose of obtaining offspring.

புத்திரி--புத்திரிகை, s. A daughter, மகள்.

புத்திரிகாசுதன்--புத்திரிகாபுத்திரன், s. Son of a daughter, மகளுடையமகன்.

புத்திரைசுவரியம், s. Children as one kind of riches, மக்கட்செல்வம்.

புத்திரோற்பத்தி, s. Birth of a son, மகன் பிறக்கை.
