புளி

s. Acidity, sourness, tartness; an acid, அறுசுவையுளொன்று. 2. Acid juice, any thing sour, புளிப்புடையது. 3. The tamarind fruit or tree, Tamarindus Indica, L.- Note. A hard letter following this word is doubled, or the correlative nasal is inserted; as புளிக்கறி, புளிங்கறி, புளிச்சோறு, புளிஞ் சோறு.

புளிகரைக்க, inf. To dissolve, or dilute, tamarind fruit for curry. 2. (fig.) To be afraid.

புளிகுடிக்க, inf. [loc. குளிகுளிக்க.] To be confined or brought to bed, a modest term. [Beschi.)

புளிகுழைக்க, inf. [prov. fig.] To scatter, or squander property.

புளிகொடுக்க, inf. To give tamarind pulp to a man who has swallowed pearls, causing him to void them.

புளிக்கறி--புளிங்கறி, s. An acid kind of curry.

புளிக்காடி--புளிங்காடி, s. Sour, காடி.

புளிச்சாறு, s. A kind of acid vegetable soup.

புளிஞ்சோறு, s. Boiled rice acidified, presented as an oblation.

புளித்தோடை, s. [prov.] An acid kind of lemon.

புளிநறளை, s. A plant. See நறளை, Cissus acida.

புளிந்தயிர், s. [com. புளிச்சதயிர், புளித் ததயிர்.] Sour curds.

புளிபிடிக்க--புளிபற்ற--புளியேற, inf. To form as acid juice in limes.

புளிமண்டி, s. A black stain in pal myra fruit, by injury, unpleasantly sour, புளிப்புக்கொண்டது. 2. Very dirty or greasy clothes, &c., அதிகவழுக்கு.

புளிமதுரை, s. A kind of shrub, ஓர் செடி.

புளிமா, s. A sour mango-tree. 2. Bil limby tree. 3. [in prosody.] A species of poetic foot. See சீர்.

புளிமாதளை, s. The sour pomegranate tree.

புளிமீன், s. Tamarind fish, fish soured with tamarind juice eaten as a relish.

புளியங்காய், s. Unripe tamarind fruit. --Note. All other compounds take the same particle as கொட்டை, கோது, பழம், பூ and the like. (c.)

புளியமரம், s. A tamarind tree. (c.) புளியம்பழத்துக்குப்புளிப்புப்புகுதவிடவருகிறாயோ. Will you attempt to add flavor to the tamarind?

புளியம்பாசி, s. A water-plant, Chara Zeylan. (R.)

புளியம்பூ, s. Flower of the Tamarind tree.

புளியம்பூவர்ணமாயெழுத, inf. To print chintz in patterns like the tamarind flower.

புளியாமணக்கு, s. A large kind of medicinal shrub.

புளியாமணக்கெண்ணெய், s. A medical oil from the shrub.

புளியுப்பு, s. An acid salt.

புளியெண்ணெய், s. Medicinal oil greatly acidified.

புளியேப்பம், s. Sour wind from the stomach, eructation.

புளியோதனம்--புளியோரை--புளியோ கரம், s. Boiled rice mixed with acid, presented in oblation, புளிஞ்சோறு.

புளிவாரிட்டமீன், s. Tamarind fish.

க்கிறது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To turn sour, to sour, to ferment, to be leavened, புளிப்பேற. 2. To be thick, close, crowded, dense, நெருங்க. (சது.) 3. [in some connections.] To be unpleasant. (c.) அவன்கன்னம்புளிக்கஅடித்தான். He beat him repeatedly on his cheek so that it was smashed. வாய்புளித்ததோ மாங்காய்புளித்ததோ. Is it the sourness of the mouth or of the mango fruit? காதுபுளித்துப்போயிற்று. The ears are pained by reiterated abuse. என்னமெத்தவும்புளிப்புக்காட்டுகிறாய்..... What, you try to frighten me!

புளிக்கவிட, inf. To set paste for fer mentation. 2. To let mixed mortar ferment.

புளிக்கவைக்க, inf. To set [in the sun, &c.,] to ferment.

புளிக்கப்புளிக்கஏச, inf. To abuse one again and again.

புளித்தமா, s. Leaven.

புளித்துக்கிடக்க, inf. To taste sour.

புளிப்பு, v. noun. Sourness, acidity, அறுசுவையினொன்று. 2. Fermenting, fe mentation, பொங்குகை. 3. Souring, பு ளிக்கை.

புளிப்பேற, inf. To grow acid, to get sour.

புளிப்புத்தட்ட, inf. To be slightly sour.
