s. Hill, mountain, பருவதம். 2. Rock, கற்றிடர். [Compare மலயம்.] (c.) 3. A word of comparison, உவமைச்சொல், as சந்திரன்மலைமுகம், a face like the moon.- Note. There are eight principal mountains, in Jambu Dwipa, and seven in India, &c. See கிரி and சத்தகுலாசலம். மலைபோல்வந்ததுபனிபோற்போயிற்று. It came as a mountain and went as the dew.

மலங்காடு, s. A mountainous region.

மலைகலக்கி, appel. n. A plant, Adiantum caudatum.

மலைக்கடுகு, s. The hill-mustard.

மலைக்கற்றாழை, s. Mountain கற்றாழை.

மலைக்குகை, s. A mountain-cavern.

மலைக்குக்குறுப்பான், appel. n. A large kind of bird, the mountain-burbet, ஓர்புள்.

மலைக்குடவு, s. A recess between two ridges or knolls.

மலைச்சர்க்கரைவள்ளி, s. A kind of winding sweet potato-plant, Jatropha manihot, or Cassada.

மலைச்சாரை, s. [com. மலஞ்சாரை.] A large rat-snake. See சாரை.

மலைச்சாரல், s. The sides or foot of a mountain. 2. A cold wind, or rain from hills, சாரற்காற்று. (Beschi.)

மலைச்சார்பு--மலைச்சார்வு--மலைச்சார், s. A mountainous tract. See சார், v. (சது.)

மலைதாங்கி, appel. n. A plant, Sida lan ceolata.--Note. The root is used with ginger for bowel complaints, and inter mittent fever.

மலைத்தும்பை, s. A plant, Phlomis biflora.

மலைத்துவரை, s. A variety of lentil, Pigeon-pea, dholl. See துவரை.

மலைத்தேங்காய், s. F&oe;tid sterculia.

மலைபோல்வர, inf. To come like a mountain--used respectfully to persons of rank, honor or power.

மலைப்பக்கம், s. The side of a mount.

மலைப்பச்சை, s. A plant, ஓர்பூடு. 2. A tree, as தமாலம்.

மலைப்பருத்தி, s. [com. மலம்பருத்தி.] Hill-cotton. See பருத்தி.

மலைப்பாம்பு, s. [com. மலம்பாம்பு.] A large mountain-snake.

மலைப்பிஞ்சு, [com. மலம்பிஞ்சு.] Small stones found in boiled rice, &c., in cant.

மலைப்புறம், s. The adjacent parts of a mountain.

மலைமகள்--மலைமடந்தை, s. Parvati, as பருவதவர்த்தனி. (சது.)

மலைமல்லிகை, s. A species of மல்லிகை, Millingtonia hortensis.

மலைமுழை--மலைமுழைஞ்சு--மலைப்பாழி, s. A mountain-cave, மலைக்குகை. (p.)

மலைமுள்ளங்கி, s. A plant, ஓர்பூடு, Orni thogal Gadense. (Rott.)
