வன்னியன்

vaṉṉiyaṉ   n. வன்னி¹. 1.A caste; ஒரு சாதி. (G. Tp. D. I, 110.) 2. Feudatory prince; commander; சாமந்தன். நாற்படைவன்னியர் (கல்லா. 37, 15). 3. Caste-title amongcertain castes, as the Kaḷḷar, Valaiyar, etc.;கள்ளர் வலையர் முதலிய சில சாதியாரின் பட்டப்பெயர் (E. T. vii, 321.)

s. [pl. வன்னியர்.] One of a certain tribe, mostly inhabiting the districts of Trichinopoly and Madura. 2. [loc.] A man of the பள்ளி caste. 3. A certain giant, as வன்னி.
