. A letter composed of ப் and அ. As an initial, except in some Sanscrit words, as பலம், pronounced balam, it has the sound of P; also as a medial when doubled, or following ட் or ற், as அப்பொழுது, நுட்பம், கற்பு. &c. After a vowel, or a soft mute, it has more the sound of B; as செபம், கம்பம், &c.
