பத்தை

pattai   n. T. badda. 1. Thinpiece, as of bamboo; slice, as of cocoanut; சிறுதுண்டு. (W.) 2. Turf; மண்ணோடுகூடிய பசும்பற்றுண்டு. Loc. 3. A potter's tool with whichthe pot is removed from the wheel; குயவன்மட்பாண்டத்தைச் சக்கரத்தினின்றும் அறுக்குங் கருவி Loc.  

pattai   s. a slit or split, படல்.

பலகை உடைந்து பத்தையாய் விட்டுப் போயிற்று, the board is split in pieces.
