தொலை

s. Great distance, தூரம். (c.) 2. Limit, end, எல்லை. 3. (சது.) Resemblance, likeness, ஒப்பு. கப்பல்வெகுதொலையிலேயிருக்கிறது. The ship is at a great distance.

தொலைவெட்டு--தொலைதூரம், s. Far off, at a great distance. தொலைவெட்டிலேபோக. To go to a very distant place.

கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To be exhausted, terminated, expended, expi ated, liquidated, முடிய. 2. To become extinct, to perish, to die, to expire, as a term of time, ஒழிய. 3. To leave, be freed; implying aversion, நீங்க. 4. To be defeated, to fail in comparison or competition, to be outrivalled, தோற்க. (c.) என்னைவிட்டுத்தொலைந்தான். He has left me. எண்ணத்தொலையாதது. That which is count less, innumerable, inconceivable. பாவந்தொலைந்தது. The sin is removed. அனுபோகம்தொலைந்தால்ஔஷதம்பலிக்கும். When former evil deeds are expiated by suffer ing (under the disease), medicine will avail. கதைபேசிக்கொண்டுபோகவழிதொலையும். By re lating stories, the way is soon passed.

தொலையாதது, appel. n. That which is interminable, inexhaustible, unex piable.

தொலைவு, v. noun. A great distance, தூரம். (c.) 2. Extinction, defeat, failure, &c., as the verb.

க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To exhaust, expend entirely, liqui date, to bring to an end, to settle, முடிக்க, (c.) 2. To destroy, to kill, to exterminate in battle, கொல்ல. 3. To discomfit, to surpass, to rout, தோற்கச்செய்ய. நான்பேசித்தொலைத்தேன். I settled matter. மதிதொலைத்தவாண்முகம். A shining face that surpassed the beauty of the moon. (p.)

தொலைத்துப்போட, inf. To give up.
