அமர்

s. War, fighting, strife, with all the din of war, போர். 2. Wall around a fort, மதில். 3. Rage, fury, crisis of a disease, the violence or paroxysm of a fever, delirium, உக்கிரம். (p.)

அமராட--அமரியற்ற, inf. To fight, war. See ஆடு and இயற்று.

அமராபரணன், s. An undaunted hero, one who considers his wounds re ceived in close action as ornaments. (நன்னூல்.)

அமர்க்களம், s. [impr. அமக்களம்.] Field of battle, போர்க்களம் 2. A confus ed noise, stir, bustle, tumult, agitation, conviviality, ஆரவாரம்.

விருந்தமர்க்களம், s. Stir and bus tle, as talking, cooking, going out and coming in.

வேளாண்மையமர்க்களம், s. Stir and bustle of harvest.

--அமரு, கிறேன், அமர்ந் தேன், வேன், அமர, v. n. To be or become still, tranquil, settled, quiet, hushed, calm, serene; to become pacified, appeased, obe dient, submissive, அமைய. 2. To rest, re pose, enjoy repose, இளைப்பாற. 3. To settle, sink, be deposited as a sediment; to sub side, become close and hard as sand by rain. அடங்க. 4. To agree, பொருந்த. 5. To become compressed, condensed, படிய. 6. To abide, dwell, remain, இருக்க. (திருவிளை.) 7. To rejoice, be placid, cheerful, களிக்க. 8. To abound, be abundant, பொலிய. 9. To be magnanimous, பெருமையாக. 1. To wish, desire, விரும்ப. (குறள்.) 11. [vul.] To be obtained, வாய்க்க. (p.)--Note. This verb forms a past. part. அமரிய, as well as the usual, அமர்ந்த; as, அமரியசேனை, the army which fought. காற்றமர்ந்துவிட்டது, The wind has subsided. புழுதியமர்ந்தது. The dust is settled. குலத்துக்கமர்ந்ததொழில். Office agreeing with his rank. அகனமர்ந்து. Rejoicing in heart. முகனமர்ந்தீதல். Giving with a shining face. அவனுக்குச்சேவகமமர்ந்தது, He has obtained service.
