சரணம்

s. Foot, leg, emphatically the foot of a deity or great person, பாதம். 2. A line in poetry; also, any one of the three or more lines or stanzas of an ode that occurs between the repetition of the cho rus, சிந்துமுதலியசெய்யுளடி; [ex சரம், moving.] W. p. 319. CHARAN'A. 3. Homage, reve rence, worship at the foot of a great person, நமஸ்காரம். 4. Shelter, refuge, protection, asylum-as சரண், அடைக்கலம். (c.) 5. A house, வீடு. W. p. 831. SARAN'A. 6. Agricultural towns or villages, மருதநிலத்தூர். (Compare நகரம், ஆவாசம், வசதி, அகரம், and உறையுள்.) 7. A peacock's tail, மயிற்றோகை. (நிக.) 8. A peacock, மயில். 9. (R.) The அரசு tree. (p.) சரணஞ்சரணம்ஐயா. Homage; homage to you, my lord. 2. Your feet, Sir, are my refuge.

சரணஞ்சொல்ல, inf. To salute in a humble manner.

சரணமடைய--சரணம்புக, inf. To ap ply for shelter, take refuge.

சரணம்பண்ண, inf. To prostrate one's self at a person's feet in homage.

சரணவாதம், s. [prov.] Cramp in the legs.

சரணாகதம்--சரணாகதி, s. Taking re fuge with one; application for protec tion. 2. Refuge, asylum, அடைக்கலம்; [ex சரணம், et ஆகதம், coming.]

சரணார்த்தி, s. Seeking protection or succour; dependence on another for pro tection, அடைக்கலந்தேடல்; [ex அர்த்தி, beg ging.]

சரணாயுதம், s. The gallinaceous fowl, a cock whose feet is its weapon, சேவல். Compare காலாயுதம்.

சரணாரவிந்தம்--சரணபங்கயம், s. The lotus feet of a great person, the feet- spoken for the person himself; [ex அரவிந் தம், lotus.]
