நீறு

nīṟu   n. நீறு-. 1. [T. nīru, M. nīṟu.]Ashes, dross of any substance after it has beenburnt; சாம்பல் பொற்பாவாய் நீறாய் நிலத்து விளியரோ (நாலடி, 266). 2. Sacred ashes; விபூதி மந்திரமாவது நீறு (தேவா. 857, 1). 3. Dust; புழுதி அருவி துகளவிப்ப நீறடங்கு தெருவின் (சிறுபாண்.201). 4. Slaked lime; நீற்றின சுண்ணாம்பு (பிங்.)  

nīṟu   s. (oblique நீற்றின்) slaked lime, சுண்ணம்; 2. ashes, சாம்பல்; 3. powder, dust, புழுதி; 4. sacred ashes made of cow-dung, திருநீறு.

நீறணிந்தோன், Siva as wearing ashes.
