நிமித்தம்

nimittam   ni-mitta. n. 1.Cause; motive; occasion; காரணம் புணர்தலும்புணர்தனிமித்தமும் (தொல். பொ 13, உரை). 2.See நிமித்தகாரணம் 3. Presage, omen; சகுனம் நெறியி னல்கின புள்ளு நிமித்தமும் (சீவக. 2168). 4.Mark, sign, spot, token; அடையாளம் (W.) 5.The office of a Brahmin representing thedeceased on the 12th day ceremony; சபிண்டீகரணத்தில் இறந்தோர்க்குப் பிரதிநிதியாய் வரிக்கப்பெற்றவர்க்குரிய ஸ்தானம் Brāh.--adv. For thesake of, on account of; பொருட்டு அதனிமித்தம்வந்தேன். (W.)  

nimittam   நிமித்தியம், s. a sign, a mark, அடையாளம்; 2. an omen, an augury, சகுனம்; 3. cause, motive, முகாந்தரம்; 4. efficient cause, காரணம்; 5. for the sake of, on acccount of, பொருட்டு.

இதினிமித்தம், for this reason, therefore.

அடித்ததினிமித்தம் or அடித்தநிமித்தம், as he had beaten.

நிமித்தகாரணம், the efficient cause.

நிமித்தக்காரர், diviners, augurs from omens, prognosticators.

நிமித்தத்துவம், instrumentality, causality.

நிமித்தம்பார்க்க, to consult omens, to observe superstitious signs.

துர்நிமித்தம், a bad omen.

நன்னிமித்தம், a good omen.
