சூர்

s. Suffering, affliction, துன்பம். 2. Disease, distemper, நோய். 3. Fear, அச் சம். 4. Malignant demons, Sylvan gods, nymphs, வனதேவதை. 5. Any female deity, தெய்வப்பெண். 6. God, தெய்வம். (சது.) 7. (a contracted form of சூரன்.) An Asura. 8. Pepper, மிளகு. 9. Cubebs, Piper cubeba, வால்மிளகு.

சூர்ப்பகை--சூர்ப்பகைவன், s. Skanda, as the foe and destroyer of சூரன், முருகன்.

சூர்மகள், s. A female fiend. See யோ கினி.

கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சூர, v. s. [prov. prop. சுகிர.] To pick or prepare cotton, flax, coir, &c., to card, பஞ்சுசூர. 2. To separate tangled hair, மயிர்வகிர. 3. To pluck up as separate stalks of corn, பயிர்வ கிர. 4. (fig.) To abstract property by unfair means, பிறர்பொருளைக்கவர.

சூர்ந்தபஞ்சு, s. Picked cotton, பிய்த்த பஞ்சு.

சூர்வு, v. noun. Picking, tousing, &c., வகிர்தல்.

க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To whirl, spin, revolve, சுழல. (p.)

சூர்த்தகண், s. Fierce eyes, ferocious eyes of demons or Asuras; a piercing and forbidding expression of counte nance.

சூர்த்தநோக்கு, s. Ferocious looks; a stern, grim, warlike, barbarous appear ance. திரிதிரித்தபார்வை. 2. Cruelty, savage ness, forocity. (p.)

சூர்ப்பு, v. noun. Whirling, revolving, rotation, சுழற்சி.
