திதி

s. A phasis of the moon, or lunar day of different lengths, of which there are fifteen in the increase, and the same in the decrease of the moon. W. p. 376. TITHI. They are, 1. பிரதமை. துதியை or விதி யை. 3. திரிதியை. 4. சதுர்த்தி. 5. பஞ்சமி. 6. சஷ்டி. 7. சத்தமி. 8. அஷ்டமி. 9. நவமி. 1. தசமி. 11. ஏகாதசி. 12. துவாதசி. 13. திரையோதசி. 14. சதுர்த்தசி. 15. பௌர்ணிமி, full moon, or அமாவாசியை, new moon. The days from the new to the full to the new are பகுளம். 2. Anniversary of the death of a parent, elder brother, &c., சிராத்தம். (c.) 3. திதிகொடுக்க--திதிபண்ண, inf. To give alms on the anniversary of the death of near relatives for their bene fit.

திதிகொள்ள, inf. To make choice of one of two lunar days for fasting, funer al rites, &c., when they both occur on the same solar day.

திதிநாடி, s. Duration of an eclipse in Nalikas, &c., கிரகணகாலம்.

திதிநிச்சயம்--திதிநியாதம், s. The de termining of an appropriate tithi for any particular ceremony.

திதித்திரயம், s. The lunar days occur ring in the same day of twenty-four hours.

திதித்துவம், s. A calendar which marks all the fasts, religious observance. &c., ceremonies prescribed on certain days of the year.

திதித்துவயம், s. The occurrence of two lithis on one solar day in each of which ceremonies for the dead may be per formed.

திதியர்த்தம், s. Half of the duration of an eclipse.

திதிவிரதம், s. Fasts regulated by lunar days. See விரதம்.

--ஸ்திதி, s. Steadfastness, sta bility, permanence, நிலைபேறு. 2. Preser vation, continuance of creation, or the process of the operation of nature as one of the acts of deity, காத்தல். (See கிருத் தியம், தொழில்.) 3. (c.) State, condition, நிலைமை. 4. Wealth, good circumstances, வாழ்வு. 5. Honor, dignity, கனம். (சது.) 6. Existence, and life, as distinguished from birth, or death, இருப்பு. (வைரா. 18.)

திதிகர்த்தா--திதிபரன், s. The deity, as Preserver, விஷ்ணு. 2. The deity, as awarding to creatures, in this life, the fruits of their former actions.

திதிகாலம், s. Time of preservation by the deity. 2. Life-time, ஆயுள்.

திதிப்பிரகரணம், s. The stage, the period or state of preservation of creatures.

திதியதிகாரசத்தி, s. The active power or energy of deity as exercised in the continuance and operations of nature- vulgarly ascribed to Vishnu.
