பண்ணை

s. A large farm-establish ment of laborers, slaves, feudal depen dants, வாரக்குடி. 2. [fig.] A large family, குடும்பம். 3. A kind of shrub, Celosia albida, ஓர்செடி. (சது.) 4. A class of kitchen herbs, ஓர்வகைக்கீரை. 5. A pad or saddle for a beast, விலங்கின்மேற்சேணம். 6. Field, rice land, வயல். 7. Litter or sleeping place of a beast, விலங்கின்படுக்கை. 8. Tank, pond, குளம். 9. Agricultural land, மருதநி லம். 1. [prov.] A large kind of dhoney, மரக்கலம். 11. A lady's female attendants, மகளிர்கூட்டம். 12. Play of females, மகளிர் விளையாட்டு. 13. (R.) See பண்ணு.--Of பண் ணைச்செடி, there are different species as சிறுப ண்ணை, Celosia sp: comosa; செம்பண்ணை, சே வற்பண்ணை, Celosia cristata; புற்பண்ணை, Celosia monsonia; புனற்பண்ணை, Celosia margaritacea. பண்ணைகுலைவாய்.
