adv. Upright, honest; straight, &c.

நேராளி, s. An upright, honest, trust worthy, punctual person.

நேரியதடி, s. [prov.] A straight stick.

நேரியது, appel. noun. Any thing straight, true, exact, நேரானது.

நேரிழை, s. A lady; (lit.) the right ly ornamented, பெண். (c.)

நேரிளையவன்--நேரேயிளையவன், s. A brother next younger.

நேர்காற்று, s. Favorable wind.

நேர்கிழக்கு, s. Due east.

நேர்மேற்கு, s. Due west.

நேர்வடக்கு, s. Due north.

நேர்தெற்கு, s. Due south.

நேர்கூறு, s. Proper quantity. See கூறு.

நேர்சோழகம், s. Wind direct from the south. See சோழகம்.

நேர்முகம், s. Facing towards.

நேர்வழி--நேர்பாதை, s. A straight road, a direct course.

Ten dency, course, direction; exposure to, ஏது. 1. Agreement, consent, settlement--as opposed to litigation, உடன்பாடு. 11. Chas tity, continence, கற்பு. 12. நேரசை, s. [in verse.] A simple long syllable. See அசை.

நேரசைக்கலித்துறை, s. A species of கலித்துறை verse.

நேரடி, s. A line of four metrical feet.

நேரலன், s. [pl. நேரலர், நேரலார்.] An enemy, பகைஞன்; [ex அவன், one who is not.]

நேராக்க, inf. To reconcile, to adjust difficulties. 2. To settle difference, to finish. 3. To destroy wholly.

நேராதல், v. noun. Being equal, con forming to another, சரிப்படுதல்.

நேராய்--நேரே, adv. Directly, straight forward; honestly.

நேரானபேச்சு, s. Right saying or dis course. 2. Sincere language.

நேரானமனம், s. An honest, sincere mind.

நேரானவிலை, s. A fair, reasonable price.

நேரிசைச்்சிந்தியல்வெண்பா, s. A spe cies of வெண்பா, verse with three feet.

நேரிசையாசிரியப்பா, s. A kind of ஆசி ரியப்பா, in which the last line but one has three feet, the others four feet.

நேரிசையொத்தாழிசைக்கலிப்பா, s. A kind of கலிப்பா verse.

நேரிசைவெண்பா, s. The common kind of வெண்பா verse of four feet.

நேரீனம், s. [prov.] Dishonesty, un fairness, unfaithfulness; [ex ஈனம்.]

நேருக்குநேராயிருக்க--நேருக்குநேராய் நிற்க, inf. To be exactly straight, direct, true. 2. To be exactly opposite to. 3. To behave honestly in return for another's honesty. 4. To come to terms on condition that another does so.

நேருக்குப்போக, inf. To go abreast. 2. To go straight forward.

நேரொன்றாசிரியத்தளை, s. A subdivi sion in ஆசிரியம் composition. See தளை.

நேர்காட்ட, inf. To face, look toward, go, sail, &c., in the direction of, எதிர்க்க. 2. To put or lay down in a straight or direct posture, வரிசையாகவைக்க. 3. (fig.) To kill, murder, despatch, send off, கொல்ல. 4. [prov.] To expose to beasts of prey, &c., முன்காட்ட. 5. To make the first gap or cleft down a tree for splitting, சரியாகப்பிளக்க. 6. To lend the water in a channel for irrigation, நீர்க்கால்மாற. 7. To lay out a person about breathing his last, கிடத்த. 8. To stretch one's self at length in lying down to sleep, நீட்டிநிமிர்ந்துபடுக்க. 9. To lead a team at plough, ஏர்நடத்த.

நேர்சீர்--நேருக்குச்சீர், s. [prov.] Due order, a good state, property. 2. Ami cableness.

நேருஞ்சீருமாயிருக்க, inf. To be in good order, good circumstances.

நேர்தப்ப, inf. To pass the bounds of equity, deviate from justice, lose chas tity.

நேர்நிறை, s. Impartiality, fairness, justice, நீதி. 2. Chastity, கற்பு. 3. Equal weight, சரிபாரம்.

நேர்பண்ண, inf. To make even. 2. To reconcile, unite. 3. [vul.] To make oath, to swear, ஆணையிட.

நேர்பிடிக்க, inf. To bring an unto ward business to a successful issue, to take a straight direction. 2. To mend, rectify, adjust, to be accomplished properly. 3. To reconcile, to come to an agreement, as contending parties, to be united to. 4. To be cured as a disease. 5. [in cant.] To terminate by death, &c.

நேர்ந்தகடா, s. A ram devoted or vowed for sacrifice.

நேர்ந்தபடி, adv. At random, as it happens, ஏற்றபடி. 2. At pleasure, as one likes, இஷ்டப்படி. 3. Rashly, thought lessly, heedlessly, incautiously, எண்ண மில்லாமல். (c.)

நேர்ந்தபடிசெய்ய, inf. To act as one pleases. 2. To act rashly.

நேர்ந்தபாடு--நேர்ந்தபார், [prov.] adv. At random, &c., as நேர்ந்தபடி.

நேர்ந்தபோக்கு--நேர்ந்தவாக்கு, v. noun. Headiness, rashness, precipitancy, pre sumption, whimsical rashness.

நேர்ந்தார், appel. n. [pl.] Friends, சிநே கிதர். (சது.)

நேர்ந்துகட்ட, inf. To make a vow and tie a thread, &c., in token of it on the thing vowed, superstitiously sup posed to have power.

நை. A letter compounded of ந் and ஐ.
